PROJECT DETAIL: kaolin Processing
Following are the details of the project:
TiO2 is the most important white pigment used in paint formulation. Nigeria imports 100% of its TiO2 needs (over 10 billion naira was spent in three years). In an effort to address this challenge, the Council designed and fabricated a calciner for the production of calcined kaolin, as a partial substitute for TiO2. So far 40% substitution has been achieved. Consequently, 40% partial substitution of titanium dioxide in paint formulation will save the country about N1b expended in the importation of titanium dioxide annually and will also save huge foreign exchange used in the importation of cement extenders.
