NEWS DETAILS: RMRDC PLEDGES COMMITMENT TO ZAMFARA, SOKOTO GOVERNMENTS ON DEVELOPMENT OF AGRO RAW MATERIALS

The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has pledged its commitment to partner with the Zamfara and Sokoto State Governments in the development of select agricultural and mineral raw materials in the States. The Overseeing Director General of RMRDC, Engr. Emmanuel Kwaya made this known when he received a delegation from the Zamfara State Government led by the Vice Chancellor of the Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, Prof Suleiman Bilbis.

Briefing the overseeing Director General and members of the RMRDC management team, Prof Suleiman Bilbis stated that his team was in the Council to seek collaboration and partnership in the development of the mineral and agro raw materials that are in abundance in the three States of Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi. He stated that having been a keen and active follower of the activities and programmes of RMRDC and the laudable achievements it has recorded in the area of local raw materials development, they expressed optimism that such collaborative efforts between RMRDC and the States Governments will go a long way in boosting economic and industrial activities in the States.

Speaking further, the Zamfara State Commissioner for Industry, Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammad Tumbido reiterated that RMRDC has been at the forefront of developing mineral and agricultural raw materials across the country and expressed confidence that such the Zamfara State government will be willing to partner with the Council in the area of research and development to improve the quality of cassava varieties in the State, capacity building for farmers on modern farming techniques and best practices, processing and value addition as well as market development to boost economic activities in the State.
