The 2nd Annual Science & Technology and Innovation Expo, 2018, held at the Eagle Square, Abuja, on 8th of March, 2018 formally came to a bright end with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) clinching an award in the Research Institutes category assessment for the second year running. The 2018 edition ended with awards presentation for best Research and Development projects in varying categories to deserving secondary schools, research institutes, technology entrepreneurs and JETS.


Speaking at the well-attended programme, the Chief Convener, Honourable Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, thanked all the inventors, researchers, innovators, investors and entrepreneurs for their achievements in the five days the expo lasted, adding that the works of their hands and power of their minds, have Shown that indeed Nigeria is the land of the rising sun. He re-affirmed federal government’s commitment to harnessing the potentials of science, technology and innovation as an important instrument that will move Nigeria away from being resource based to a knowledge based, innovation driven economy. The HMST assured that the ministry will continue to build on the achievements of the expo, adding that the event will be brought closer to the people in the six geo-political zones of the country. Dr. Onu thanked everyone for participating, urging them to hold to the dream that: ‘the labour of our heroes past shall not be in vain’. ‘The future of our dear country is very bright, to achieve, is a task. It is a responsibility’.
