The book attempts
to identify the various roles for information technology in the growth
and development of natural resources in Africa. The publication is
based on the regional survey carried out on behalf of the Group of 77
Countries in 1992 and consists of seven chapters. The chapter one dwelt
on key issues surrounding natural resources of Africa, while chapter 2
covers policy statements on information technology development. Chapter
3 presents case studies of five selected African countries. Chapters 4,
5 and 6 deal with the proposed raw materials information network,
highlighting the various strategies that could be adopted. The last
chapter revisited issues on commodity trade and information network. The
book will be immensely useful to policy makers, scientists, researchers,
entrepreneurs and institutions concerned with economic emancipation of
the African continent.
