RMRDC SPONSORS STAFF ON OVERSEAS TRAINING
As part of
efforts aimed at building capacity within its workforce for greater
efficiency and improved service delivery, the Raw Materials Research
and Development Council (RMDC) has sponsored Mrs. E. O. Wuyep, a
Scientific Officer with the Technology Development Department (TDD)
to a 5-day training workshop at the reputed Petroskills Training
Center, Houston, Texas.
The workshop
was designed to expose participants to the effective use of
geochemical data to determine quantity charge risk during
exploration, model source rock maturity and timing, integrate
geochemical, geological, and engineering data to optimize field
development by characterizing reservoir compartment, allocating
commingled production, identifying completion problems and how to
improve exploration success as geological logs vitrinite reflectance,
pyrolysis, organic facies variation, biomarkers quantities generated
and expelled, and distribution of sources of rock maturities, among
others.
Mrs Wuyep, in
a report submitted at the end of the programme, explained that a lot
was achieved during the programme. She said the information and
experience gained at the workshop would enable every practicing
geologist, geochemist, petroleum engineer, manager and technical
personnel in the country to conduct sampling, exploration and
production programmes in the mineral, oil and gas sectors of the
economy.
Mrs. Wuyep
went on to advocate that crude oil obtained using geochemical data integrated with
geological and engineering, possessed industrial raw materials
potentials for the production of goods in Nigeria. She further
recommended the training for all practicing geologists, petroleum engineers, and the
rest in allied industries as a tool to improve upon their
professional acumen and skill development.
A geologist
by training, Mrs Wuyep participated as the only Nigerian out of 12
others drawn from across the globe. The programme was organized by
Petroskills L.L.C., United States of America.
