RMRDC SETS FRESH AGENDA
FOR COMPLETION OF KAGARA AND KWAKUTI PROJECT
The Raw
Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has set a time
frame for the completion of two of its stalled projects in Niger
state. The projects are the Kagara Talc processing plant designed
to produce talc for the manufacture of cosmetics and
pharmaceuticals, and the Hydrated Lime project, which is to produce
hydrated lime.
The Chairman of the RMRDC
Governing Board, Chief (Mrs.) Pauline Tallen made this commitment
when members of the Board paid a courtesy call on the Niger State
Governor, Alhaji Abdulkadir Kure, at the Government House, Mina,
recently.
She said that the Board’s visit
was going to change the situation as the Council would work
assiduously to make them functional within six months, while she
pledged the Council’s support for the development of other abundant
raw materials resources in the state.
Responding, Alhaji Kure mentioned
that there were large deposits of kaolin, Talc, Hydrated lime, and
Ceramics in the state and enjoined the council to assist the state
in their exploitation. He also commented that the full exploitation
of the abundant raw mineral raw materials locally, in the state,
would eliminate the burden of importation of the same raw materials
from abroad.
The RMRDC Board also visited the
Niger state RMRDC Liaison Office where the Director General, Eng
(Prof.) Peter Onwualu enjoined the staff to be worthy ambassadors of
the Council in order to facilitate the realization of the Council’s
corporate goals and objectives.
The Board members also paid a
courtesy call on the Emir of Kagara to intimate him with Council’s
projects domiciled in his domain.
