Also
presented were two publications, monograph series developed by the
council and another book on Basic concept to computer Aides design
and fabrication of raw materials process equipments.
Speaking at
the ground breaking ceremony in Abuja recently, the Director General
of the council Eng (Prof) Peter Onwualu said the pilot scale plants
were designed to extract essential oil from locally available plants
including Lemon Grass, Citronella and Eucalyptus.
Prof Onwualu
maintained that in order to achieve the technological development of
the Country, RMRDC had also embarked on upgrading of indigenous
technology and capacity building including proper documentation of
design parameters for process equipment and plants formulations for
industrial purposes.
He described
the presentation as milestones by the council in its efforts to
achieve its Strategic Plan mandate of ensuring a sustainable
technological development for the Country.
On the book
on basic concepts of plants and process equipment design, the DG
said the publication was prepared by a selected team of Engineering
professionals who examined the basic aspects of plant equipment
design to guide individuals or groups interested in the subject
area.
In his
contribution, the permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of
Science and Technology (FMST). Dr. Abubaker Aliyu, who was
represented by the Director, Science and Promotion Department FMST,
noted that the ministry placed top priority on capacity building for
the local designed and fabrication of process equipment for
conversion of the bation’s local resources.
