INDUSTRIAL CROPS
Industrial crops are plants which are classified primarily because of their industrial uses, but they also have secondary domestic applications.
The industrial crops grown in the country are Beniseed, Castor seed, Cotton, Groundnut, Kenaf, Sheanut, Soya bean, Sugar cane, Tobacco etc.

Most of these crops i.e. Beniseed, sheanut Castor beans and to an extent kenaf are currently growing in the wild (not domesticated).  Nigeria prior to the 60's was noted for the famous Kano Groundnut pyramids that disappeared in the 70's as a result of oil boom.  Presently most of these crops are exported in their crude forms with little or no value addition.  Local effort is currently in full gear for the industrial exploitation of these crops.
