Status/Prospects:         
World net importation is expected to expand over the next decade, with Europe being the largest importer.  Nigeria is currently exporting large quantities of fresh pineapple fruits to Europe.  This is expected to increase drastically in the next few years.
Local processing of pineapple is also expected to expand because of increased local demand for pineapple drinks
