ACTION COMMITTEE ON RAW
MATERIALS (ACRM) OF THE G-77 AND THE RAW MATERIALS INFORMATION SYSTEM (RMIS)
FOR AFRICA PROJECT.
GENERAL BACKGROUND
· The
Action Committee on Raw Materials (ACRM) is a programme aimed at
addressing the problem of poor development of raw materials in G-77
countries which has been found to affect the pace of industrialization
and also largely responsible for low value-added outputs, poor exports
and consequently low income earnings resulting in increased poverty.
·
The
concept of establishing the Raw Materials Information System (RMIS) was
to address the problem of lack of information on raw materials in member
states.
·
The
Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Abuja, Nigeria,
is serving as the international Secretariat of ACRM.
