Global Assests and Technology
Exchange System (GATES)
Visits are to be undertaken
to survey and collect preliminary data on raw materials available in
designated countries, determine the focal points for the project, with
which A web based network databank will be established to promote
investment in those raw materials, as well as sharing of information
amongst African countries on expertise for raw materials development,
areas of strength and trade possibilities. The internet network will be
integrated into a common databank to be housed at the international
headquarters of ACRM of the G-77 in RMRDC, Abuja, Nigeria.
The databank at the ACRM
secretariat is to serve as a platform to link the countries in the
network to the United Nation Global Assets and Technology Exchange
System (GATES) for the South located in Shangai, China. GATES is
designed to facilitate the exchange and matching of asset and technology
needs in six focal areas: technology and venture capital, mergers and
acquisitions, development project financing, e-procurement of goods and
services, merchandise features and services. Each area of focus includes
six supporting systems providing a full range of professional services
and consists of trade shows, forums, training and research; etc. This
survey is also to enable experts to appreciate the personnel and
infrastructural facilities available at the focal points, to be
determined by the government of the countries concerned, which can be
used to drive the project and also identify the areas of required
support.
